As you sit there watching your tv show and the amazing commercial comes on about the Droid yet again and you find yourself wishing that tomorrow would already be here I am sitting here still trying to understand the hype, trying to feel the force. Each person is different based on needs and coverage area. Well my needs and coverage I suppose are different from everyone else. Just for example how everyone cries about having a physical keyboard but yet that is first thing people down the Droid for and yet I don't need a physical keyboard the virtual ones are faster for me. Now let's start off with the fact that as it stands right now the Motorola layout of 2.0 android or maybe even 2.0 itself(not sure which is responsible) sucks in my opinion. The layout is so boring and generic regardless of the background. Now I know you should be able to change it up and all but my initial reaction was that it reminds me of a iPhone and Windows phone rolled up in one. And for me that's road I have traveled down before and don't plan on returning. This is why the HTC hero is so appealing to me. It stands out and gives you functions while doing it. 2nd off is the lack of battery power. The hero has a higher battery Hz so again why would I need to go backward. 3rd is really just dumb not to be there but here it is anyway, no multi touch for the web but yet you put it in for viewing pictures. Umm? Why would you do this? Why choose the one function area that you will use this feature the most in and ellimate it. It makes no sense and once again I have it in the hero. And I guess my biggest reason is the fact the Verizon sucks in pricing and in signal strength in my area that I work in. It once took my friend over 4 minutes to get to google search page. And no there was no towers out and he had a evdo rev-a phone. But yet everyone around him with carriers like tmobile, sprint, and ATT had plenty of speed. So again I have the hero for that and it will run circles around this type of performance everyday. Not to mention having the best price plans which I don't have to pay extra for text messages, night starting at 7 and other services that sprint gives me free and all this inside the android hero that will be getting 2.0 also with a less than 70 bucks a month with voice navigation too by the way. Bottom line is that I just hope those who do get the Droid have fun and add to the ever growing android community but understand that there are better choices out there and that the whole "best android phone" label isn't always true everywhere or for everybody.
PS: Don't get me wrong the Droid is amazing and very good for Verizon. I couldn't be more excited for them and their network but more importantly for us, the android community out there. We are really starting to take off, watch out world!
