Merry Christmas to all and to all a good kindle! Well through all my waiting I finally can write about my new toy as well as my wife's new toy, the kindle. First off I can go ahead and get the questions out of the way about the Nook. No, it isn't better than the kindle. I orginally thought otherwise when you read on paper all the cool things the Nook did over the kindle. The Barnes and noble free read option, the expanding memory, the loan options, the color lcd screen, and most of all the android platform. Then the unit came to Barnes and noble and this turned around quickly from a thing of advantage to something just put on paper to sound nice. First off the loan thing only works with certain books(they never tell you that), the expanding memory isnt needed with the kindle because you books are always there on the server if you ever delete them for room and then want them back, read books in Barnes/noble also limited to one hour( again something they don't tell you) plus money on drive time, their books cost more, their battery life is weaker than the kindle, their dictionary can't find words like the kindles and can't do this on the same page as the book; also something the kindle does, the systems os locks and crashes, the unit runs slower, and the on screen keyboard and navagation controls sucks and are time consuming, not that way on the kindle. So needless to say that I stopped my preorder and got my wife and I kindles. And have never been happier. I can't tell you how relieved I was after I opened the kindle box and saw it for the first time in person seeing first had that I made the right choice . It was so tiny. I thought I would be getting a much bigger unit than that of the Nook but was blown away with its smallness. Then feeling the second nature of the menu flows as I went through the units pages of info. Everything from the package to the letter inside thanking you for the purchase was top notch. It was a buyers dream, spending money on a product only to find that you didn't really spend enough for what was given to you. I love this thing. The screen is so easy on your eyes. It even gave me a moment when I reached up to turn the page because my mind was so into the reading of the pages, forgeting that it was a ereader and not a real book. It was then when I knew I really had something speacial. The battery life on this is amazing as well. Read to me feature is great and unreplacable along with the web browser( even though it will serve only as a emergancy web browser if you need it.). And all this really made me ask why on earth would I even want anything else. This thing just does everything perfect. Even when my wife was given the chance to order the Nook now that she had her kindle, she responded with a " hell no" and a very mean look towards me(yikes :) ). I frankly can't see to much anybody can come up with that will top the kindle or do what it does better. And after all the bad reviews on the Nook I see that mostly everyone agrees.
