A case for 2k

Every year I get both the mlb: the show and the 2k sports baseball. I get them to go to war and choose the best one to keep and go through the season. The first break out year for "the show" it won the best sport title of the year. And it deserved it. The 2k series was just not that good as it used to be. It may have been for the lack of competition or something, or maybe just being plan lazy about there push for better and new gaming. Needless to say "the show" won my heart as the best baseball game I had ever played at that point and time. Now fast forward today we now have the 2k10 and mlb 2010 on the selves. I was a little late this time picking up both copies. In fact based on the last outing and all the reviews out there I just didn't want the 2k10 this year. Everyone ranked it so low compared to"the show" this year. Well when I got "the show" home it was good. "Good" not"great" to me for some reason. I didn't get the feeling they did a lot to this game over last years. Now I'm not saying by any means that the game was bad. It was just a little lack luster for me coming from previous installments. I didn't see or get that "now this is a new year" feel from this game. So this led me to the game store to pick up 2k anyway because for some reason I felt that I needed to see if this was me just not being ready for baseball or me just not being impressed with "the show". Well as I put the game in and read about it all the feelings were clear. 2k's graphic were very much enhanced over last year. Colors and movement so much more richer and smoother than last year. And this leads to better controls especially with the pitching and batting mechanics. The game feels so good when your are pitching and batting( especially with the amazing tv camera angles). It almost feels like you are really doing it for some strange reason. And then the less noticeable thing that I will try to explain is the graphic flashes that happens through every scene of the game(mostly around the windows that open and close for facts or stats). It makes the game = to a tv scene look(its really appealing) especially with the amazing stats that come up for"every" situation. But even without these improvements the biggest and most important added feature to me as a baseball fan is the stat tracking of 2k10 this year. All game player stats updated( which in turn effectively makes your team perform like their real life counter part) just like the basketball for 2k and this includes the same commentary (which already is the best I've heard in baseball) that also updates with the stats making one realistic feeling game. These features alone makes it better and more important than anything in mlb" the show" has at this point over 2k. And baseball is stats. Its the most importantly keep thing about mlb. Which is why its probably the best I've played based on those two upgrades alone.
