Smart business or bad business?

As I'm sure you all have all heard, the blackberry Bold after it's long wait have finally finalized a release date for its ATT debut. The date set is Nov 4. And it's price tag for this debut is $299.99. Now before I even get into all the problems I have with this let me start off by saying that I love blackberries. I have one myself, the curve by verizon as my personal phone. So this isn't a I hate blackberry knee to the stomach. But someone at blackberry or ATT have either not been paying close attention to the competition or is completely arrogant. The first main problem I have is the long wait, almost setting up a piggyback ride to the release of the "Storm". The same phone most of the attention is on now anyway. So basically you going to release a phone that really has no chance at true exposure being overshadowed by the "Storm" . Next is the date. Nov 4th, does this date seem familiar. It should because it's what most Americans state as the most important day in the United States of America, Election day for our new President(God knows we need a change). So while America is either up in anger or joy that day you are simply going to release your product as if it has any chance at overshadowing that day or even coming into the same sentence of "We The United States elect ____ as our New President!!". I guess ATT or RIM think that the new president will be mentioning to all of America that we should turn off the Tv and get down there and get our new Bold or something. And last is this $299 price tag. Maybe someone should email RIM and remind them that this is not 1999-2001 when these prices were the norm. Not only that be also remind them that they are releasing along side the Iphone 3g which is only $199.99 and is under the same exact carrier they are releasing under. I mean come on people, I personally thought that the Bold would sale more than the thunder if they had given it a chance to fight. And I say that because blackberry has a following, a following of people that are faithful to the physical keyboard not the touch screen era. And even with the touch screen button simulation it is still not the same as a physical keyboard no matter what they say. Now this is not to say that the Storm won't be successful, it will I think but just not as compelling as the Bold for the Faithful blackberry fans. These same fans(not all of them) you are going to loose with the way you are doing this release and the price tag that comes with it.
