Now a lot of reviews went out about these two games. I personally think it was too early to judge either one until the season kicked in since the major updates to the game were based on season stats converting over to the game itself. So it took a lot out of me not to write too early like most. I have to admit the nba live 09 game was the most concerning at the beginning because even though I knew the season would kick in on the day it was release I thought, as well as others, that the best thing to do when we got the game was to go ahead and at least put in our code. Well that didn't appear to be a joyful thing because it would not allow you to log in given you a errors like it never took the code and then once the code was put in again it told you that your code was already in use and to get another. This pissed me off because I was not going to spend $20 extra just to get another code. So right away the game had me frustrated. So instead of being to let down I went ahead and started up game after game (cpu vs cpu). And just like I love to due just watch and see how smart the cpu plays against itself which is my way of really testing it out. But the strange thing was the game that bragged all about how the game was going to reflect what the real players did in real life was everything but this. You had things like Jason Kid leading the mavericks in points and centers that can't shoot a free-throw launching behind the free throw line on more than one instants during a game. The game was very disappointing. So I placed this game down for awhile with the intent on picking it up again when the 365 thing was activated. So I opened up 2k9 thinking that I would see the same but maybe a little worst or better. And right away it was like night a day. Even before their live roster were ready to be active the game had everybody acting like themselves. Nobody did anything out of character. The leaders took the majority of the shoots, the assist kings assisted, the dunker dunked, people who couldn't shoot very well didn't and the graphics and animation were off the charts. Even the crowd added a dimension to the game that I still can't fully explain how important it was to the atmosphere. So i still didn't want to get too excited about this until everything kicked in to give Live and it's highly hyped up 365 a chance to change my mind thus far. Well weeks later after all of the 365 updates were finally kicking and guess what? It did stop the bad shoots a little but there were still to many mistakes like cpu controlled player walking to the other end of the court and staying while the offensive was on a 2 on 5 drive to the basket. Then there was the hold the basketball routine until the clock was about the run out with no attempt to do anything while the cpu stood dribbling 2 feet from half court and then throwing up a hail-mary. And finally my favorite hated thing, the rubber band man. What is the "rubber band man" you ask. Its when you drive anywhere close to the basket no mater the side of the court and you press the dunk button the the person is sucked into the vortex that pulls him all the way to the basket, no matter what direction he is facing, for the dunk out of the nowhere. So what does your 365 really get you. Nothing really, just a different roster when you play. It was really overly hyped and it really doesn't change anything about the cpu players that you notice while playing. Their states my be different but they really don't play any different. Now to be fair though the live roster really isn't that much better especially being that they only update once a week and not everyday like Live 09. However the key to it is that it really didn't have to being that it played like real life before any updates were available anyway so the update little adjustment were just bonus and not required to make it play better unlike Live's 365 and it's gameplay which really needs it and didn't deliver it even when it got it. Nba 2k9 is the best basketball ever created period, at least until next year with 2k10.
