Why the hush??

Today as we focus on the palm pre we would have to be blind if we didn't say that there are some concerns going on in the pre camp as of late. The Pre show so much promise but like all promising items it is still up to the developers and the customers to make it last and give it the fuel it needs to grow. Palm nor Sprint have yet to post any true numbers about the sales of the pre. This even to the fan boys out there in palm world is a little dishearting. I mean if something is selling well then the people out there that are thinking about buying the product should know about this, not to mention the stock holders. So what gives Palm? Now I will say that the sales of an item have nothing to do with the overall value of what is there. As with the Ipod in the early days which benefited from a lot of early momentum and then assumustion about how good it really was or wasn't, so shall the iphone turn into(even at this point). The palm just might be overshadowed by the apple machine much like creative zen mp3 players were with the ipod even though they were really superior. Now I'm not ready to call this moment in time the exact same just yet but as more and more phones come out like the pre and others I think you will see it. People buying a iphone(not calling it a cell phone like they did with the mp3 players, calling them a ipod instead). So all in all the pre as well as the other phones out there really should do all they can to stay out of that same blackhole and this should begin with being honest to the future buyers and investors first. Whatever the numbers are, not posting them and letting everyone start to feel the worst about the them is worst than just getting out the way and then doing whatever is needed to build on that and make it better. And just to give you a clue, rumors are hitting that palm is having to cut back on production of the pre by 500,000 units. This isn't good if true but worst if it isn't true and you never post the true numbers or status of the productions of the units. I'm sure that the numbers, whatever they are, will increase as the developers for the apps roll in with some good apps( but thats another entry all together).
