Mobile sites??

Correct me here if I'm wrong but what is the point of creating mobile sites like this another that simply have text and or a few pictures if you are designing the sites for the iPhone, pre, or android? Why are companies doing this? It's a waste of time because if you have one of these phones then more than likely you are not looking for mobile views anyway. I mean isn't that one of the reasons you bought the phone so you could get access to the full web experience, not some dumb mobile view that was helpful when we were still on edge speeds. I promise nothing makes me more mad about surfing when it defaults back to a mobile site even when you put in a non-mobile site address because the site creator decided to make the site look for those browsers and override your instructions just to force you to a page layout that you didn't want or need.  Now I know some of sites have a toggle switch to route you to the non-mobile page but that's a unnecessary step that maybe google can correct by maybe putting a mobile view tab section on the search results so you don't have to load a site twice. Anyway thats my vent for today.
