Now I'm not being mean here and I know I normally shouldn't bring back up a fellow fallen gadget but I just had to. If you are a fan of the Nook please don't read any further. If you brought the nook and are waiting on yours to come in the mail don't read this. This thing is starting to remind me of the xbox 360 and its failure rate. I search all over the internet to find the official forum of the nook and to my surprise it had thousands of entries and members. This is very good to see, very good to see right up to the point where I started to read most of the more looked at and written about entries. 80% of the most commented on where all problems. And I'm not talking about simple problems either folks. And the worst thing of all where the things that one had to do to fix some of the problems. There was one problem with the members battery that tech support had them remove their battery and hook up the nook to the computer to download files without the battery fooling the nook into thinking it was doing something else, just to make the battery act like it was originally suppose to act in the first place. And another Battery issue **Quoted :
"You can try the holding down both right-side bottons for a LONG time, and if that doesn't work
yank the battery out
Plug into Wall Outlet (or computer)
It should boot up, if not hold top button for 10 secs
Let it boot all the way up, and insert battery with it still running.
Then let it charge a long time.

From B/n Forums for the Nook

I mean come on, why would anyone think to do this stuff and most importantly why do they even have to. With the Kindle, it just works. The battery life, the highlights, bookmarks, last read memory, no crashes, no skipping chapters, no rebooting just to find a book. It just works people! More post talks included chapters that the nook skipped. We had books that were missing. Highlights and notes that become missing. The nook instead of keeping your last spot would go back to a spot you last read a week ago. The screen blacks out and reboots by itself. The unit can't connect to home wifi's. Bookmarks disappearing. And the list doesn't stop folks. Oh yea this was after the Update too. Look folks, I like gadgets but I'm a firm believer that you don't bring a product to the market with it half way working for the sake of having it out. B/N was in way over their head and should have postpone the launch until they could get the units working and doing what it claimed it would do. I mean they didn't even get the simple stuff right nor where they ready to even have proper support nor products for sales. Its sad to me really because I really wanted to get this ebook reader in addition to my kindle but I just can't see it. Hopefully the company can correct all this before the next gen Nook comes out or at least get the second one right before it ships.
